"The Magic Bus staff underwent a Sex, Sexuality and HIV/Aids capacity building workshop. This will help them to impart information on the topics to the children. The workshop was conducted by CCDT and FACSE."

UNICEF Global Sport for Development Committee
Matthew flew to New York in January for an exciting meeting with academics and people from around the world working in the field of sport development. Magic Bus was able to put across our experiences of working with at-risk children in a challenging urban environment. Magic Bus was the only Asian organization to be represented on the committee. The information shared at the meeting and partnerships forged will be carried forward into future research and development with Magic Bus.

Explorers
We completed the delivery of the Explorer's life skills curriculum for this age group in March (400 children). At the end of the year we wanted to know how we had fared in planning, implementation and assessment of the programme. All of us took a critical review of what we had done last year and in what ways our efforts had impacted the children. We took feedback from the NGOs who were our partners in the Explorers programme. This internal evaluation was a landmark for Magic Bus and it proved to be an insightful learning process.

Voyagers
The pilot project for Voyagers finally took off in February with a group of 25 institutionalised girls from Asha Sadan with the aim to develop the Voyager Life Skill Curriculum and explore its impact on the youth (15 years plus). The R&D team with support from the programme team and cooperation with Asha Sadan staff initiated a needs-assessment study to understand the needs of the children so as to make our curriculum more need-based. The process included a discussion with the Asha Sadan staff, a detailed questionnaire for information on each girl, and the programme team's observations of the group during sessions. The findings from all these sources will soon be analyzed to arrive at life skill modules and strategies for working with the group.

Challengers
The curriculum development for the Challengers commences this year as the first Explorers graduate into Challenger Year One. Process documentation for this year's 8 groups was carried out and a one-time end of year assessment carried out. The learning from the year has been documented as we commence the full impact assessment and curriculum development this year. A pilot study will also take place on 315 challenger children in Magic Bus's first Municipal School Programme.
