Sally Barrett from Bombay Duck, wins the Veteran Race!!!

A team of runners from 'Bombay Duck' the homeware company one or two other key supporters spend the winter months training to take part in the Mumbai Marathon on 21st January. The team flew out together and spent 3 days in the city, learning all about our work and then taking part in the half and full marathons.

Sally Barrett from North London joined a few thousand others to run in the full (42km) Mumbai Marathon. She went on to place first in the woman's veteran category, with a fantastic time of 4 hours 30 minutes!

Gala Dinner

The dinner this year was a wonderful event with over 360 guests enjoying a Bombay Banquet at The Banqueting House, Whitehall. Vama provided the food for the evening and guests were entertained by Kuljit Bhamra, Hardeep Singh Kohli and Rory Bremner. Christie's auctioneers Hugh Edmeades and Tash Perrin took a wonderful auction selling everything from Elizabeth Hurley beach wear to trees, holidays in Sri Lanka, France and Mumbai to F.N. Souza drawings.

We had tremendous support this year from friends, Deutsche Bank were our main sponsor for the evening, and they were joined by table sponsors and generous donors including Tech Mahindra, Stemcor, Goldman Sachs, Barclays Bank, Bloomberg, Lawrence Graham, BDO, Warburg Pincus, Corus Steel, Price Waterhouse Coopers, Kubera, Baer Capital, IAP and Caledoniia Investment.

The event raised almost double our expectations, including funding for two new buses for the children.

Celebrating the World Cup

Magic Bus celebrated the World Cup this year with a fundraising party at Stationer's Hall. Cobra, Sula Wine and Bombay Bicycle Club teamed to offer a spectacular Indian taste sensation whilst over 400 guests watched England Sweden battle it out on a mega screen.

Weaving the Football Pitch

The auction of a football donated by FIFA and a cricket bat donated by the ECB, together with a Cox & Kings holiday and a number of other prizes enabled Magic Bus to raise enough funds to build the much awaited football pitch at the Centre for Learning & Development just outside Mumbai.

In December construction of the pitch commenced and it will be ready for play in March!
