Magic Bus Gala dinner 2007

The Magic Bus Bombay Banquet took place in the Victoria and Albert Museum on the 3rd October, sponsored by Deutsche Bank, Kubera Partners and ICICI as our platinum sponsor. Our platinum sponsors were BT, Ravengroup, The Premier League, PricewaterhouseCoopers and Cityindex. With comedienne Shazia Mirza compering, Peter Snow as our auctioneer and musical entertainment from Kuljit Bhamra, Neil Percy, Zoe Rahman and Preeya Kalidas it certainly was a night to remember. The night was a huge success financially with a profit of more than £135,000 raised to send to India.

Ready Steady Cook!

Television historian Dan Snow challenged his father Peter Snow in the kitchen on Ready Steady Cook. After winning, it was announced that he was giving his winnings to Magic Bus.

Dan is also going to appear on Celebrity Mastermind in aid of Magic Bus, with his fees going directly to the charity and any winnings! Do look out for it- it will be on air at 6:30pm on BBC 1 on New Year's Eve.

Run for the bus!

We had a really good response to Run for the Bus since the last newsletter. Laura Smith from Cox & Kings battled the hills in the Great North Run at the end of September, raising more than £400 for Magic Bus.

We also had some wonderful support from a team at Pharmalink, who ran in the Hydroactive women's challenge who raised over £800 for us.

James Lovell ran in the Jersey Marathon, raising around £1000 for Magic Bus.

Giorgio's wedding

Giorgio and Saloni Gamba very kindly asked the guests at their wedding to donate to Magic Bus in lieu of gifts. This was a staggering gesture and we ended up receiving around £7,000 from the friends and family of the happy couple.

Bombay Duck merchandise launch

Dubai Diwali Dinner

Magic Bus held its first fundraising event in Dubai on 1st November with the generous support of DP World, Golden Circles and Oryx Corporation. After a weekend visit to Magic Bus back in 2006 with her husband Andreas, Natasha Kothari decided to launch fundraising activities for Magic Bus in Dubai. The event was a tremendous success raising substantial funding for the programme and building a huge amount of awareness in the UAE through the publicity generated. Christie's auctioneer Hugh Edmeades and Chairman Viscount Linley took a spectacular auction that included amongst other prizes a Cox & Kings holiday, and items signed and donated by Shah Rukh Khan and Yuvraj Singh. The surprise of the evening was when guest and well known singer Sukhbir leapt up on stage and gave the guests a fabulous half hour of music and dance.
