"Meera smiled after five long years"

This may seem an unusual statement but this is what we often hear from the staff of organisations that attend our daytrips. Magic Bus had organized a daytrip at the children's centre for children who are differently abled from Matimand Girls Hostel, Panvel. This is our endeavour to reach out to those children who are not a part of our regular programme. There were 20 girls who participated in this daytrip and special care was taken to have a good ratio of adults present with the children. The girls ran into the open football ground and experienced the joy of running in an open field. They completed an obstacle course, played skipping with their friends and did the hoola hoops. Every activity for the children was a monumental task and every task was an accomplishment.

"Bring all children to Magic Bus, we don't need doctor for any treatment" says Rajiv a 12 year old cancer patient

Magic Bus had a wonderful opportunity to interact with cancer patients from Tata Memorial Hospital. We took 18 boys and 5 girls for a daytrip at our Children's Centre. The patients showed extra ordinary courage while rappelling and felt a sense of achievement. Rajiv was on crutches due to his legs being affected by cancer however this did not stop him from rappelling down the rock climbing tower. His effort was sheer inspiration for all.

"Yeh hamre liye ek sapno ki duniya thi "

"This was a place of my dreams" shared by a 11 year old tribal girl from a village, when she experienced a day in Mumbai city. The children from Ashram Shala, a boarding school for tribal children were given once in a lifetime experience to have a peek at a different world. Magic Bus promotes an interaction between tribal and city children to give them an exposure to different cultures and a sense of understanding and valuing ones own environment. This is done through our adventurer programme that reaches out to all those children who cannot give us a long term commitment.

The tall buildings startled the children and they were in awe of the ocean. The team took them to Gateway of India and Nehru Planetarium where they were spellbound by watching the stars and the planets during daytime besides conducting many creative expression activities throughout the day.

Local youths a part of our outdoor team

We have recruited 15 new staff at our Centre for Learning & Development. The center outdoor team has a strong mixture of individuals who love the outdoors and children. We have consciously recruited staff from in and around the centre by collaborating with outdoor clubs like Nisarg Mitra and Yashwanti Hikers, thus providing employment opportunities for the local youth. The new recruits have been outdoor enthusiasts and have participated in several rescue missions during landslides and floods.
