Work-based learning
Work-based learning is offered to youth enrolled in
our Voyager programme and offers a means of
increasing the young adults' engagement in learning
and of preparing them for employment.

Magic Bus wishes to engage three types of
work-based learning:

a. Visits to workplaces, which include field trips and
job shadowing (longer-term, sometimes multiple
visits to observe by following a worker)

b. Work-like experiences,
which include unpaid internships (voluntary service, not necessarily with career focus) Magic Bus will network with micro-finance organizations, involve the adults in some of our related activities (in the centre, provision of supplies such as food, T-shirts and equipment) as well as simulated business experiences.

c. Employment, which includes youth jobs (jobs ordinarily open to teenagers but often not learning opportunities), and apprenticeships (long-term work/learning programmes - often lasting several
years - that lead to certification)
