Magic Bus is an award winning NGO based in Mumbai that believes in child’s right to play (as declared by the UN). We use sport as a medium to work on overall development enabling girls and boys to realize their true potential. Magic Bus aims to create a new generation of youth empowered to take charge of the own communities and build a strong and aware society. Since its inception in 1999, the organisation has reached out to over 18,000 children living in some of the most at risk and marginalised circumstances in the city. Magic Bus is the first organisation to bring the mission of sport for development into an Asian context and successfully found ways of working in partnership to address some key issues of development of young people.

Magic Bus Centre for Learning & Development: The Magic Bus Centre is world class outdoor development facility, situated 1.5 hours from South Mumbai, near Karjat. It is a 25-acre plot of land where residential facilities have been built for running indoor and outdoor development programmes. We are looking for energetic people to form a team at Magic Bus children’s programme at the centre in Karjat. The responsibility includes not just conducting activities but ensuring that the children are given an experience that they will cherish and learn from. The activities include Climbing, rappelling, kayaking, rafting, obstacle course, ropes course, trekking, zip line, Jacob ladder and many more.  The Centre is also run as a social business with private groups availing of the facility for a fee that is directed into our work with at risk children. 

Role:
His/Her role is to support the social business at the centre by developing business and delivering programmes.  He/she will be part of the Magic Bus Sustainability Team aligning the Centre business with our overall resource mobilisation strategy.

Basic Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree (field no bar)
• Minimum 2 years experience with children (preferably in a experiential learning environment)
• 2-3 yrs experience in conducting learning and development programmes in the outdoors
• Willingness to travel/live/work in Mumbai and Karjat
• An open mind and commitment to the development sector

Responsibilities:

Private Schools Programme

Build up a client base of private schools in Mumbai who will, on an annual basis use the Magic Bus Centre on a fee paying basis for learning and development camps. Develop business, maintain relationships and deliver programmes.

1. Programme Creation, Development & Delivery – 45%

• Creating new activities and making appropriate lesson plans
• Making itineraries/ activity plans according to school’s requirements
• Provide on-site logistical support to delivery team
• Proactive monitoring of the quality of delivered programmes

2. Relationship Management – 20%

• Meet with activity heads/ principals of existing schools
• Setup feedback meeting with school after Programme to discuss teacher and child feedback.

2. Administration & Human Resource - 20%

• Work with director to set annual capacity targets
• Coordinate with operations to reserve dates based on annual targets
• Recruit and train freelance staff based on programme requirements
• Create database of technical freelancer and facilitators
• Form a committee to define the quality and standard of freelancers

4.  Research & Marketing 15%

• Research needs for adventure, developmental and environmental programs
• Create/ amend market survey questionnaire and administer to different city schools

Other Centre Revenue

Support the Partnerships Manager with the development of a strategy for corporate and other partner organizations seeking to avail of the Magic Bus Centre and act as the coordinator for all programmes.
