Anwar - scaling heights

"I want to see my children where I am today" is Anwar's dream. Anwar has come a long way since being a care taker of the grounds. His keen interest in sport along with a determination, has made him a role model for the 240 children that he mentors today along with his team. He has moved leaps and bound with the rugby programme initially started by Matthew Spacie and is today very proudly standing tall being a part of the State Rugby team. Anwar was part of the Maharashtra Rugby team and won his first gold, in the 33rd National Games, Guwahati 2007. Anwar has also successfully passed his HSC exams this year. He also coaches rugby to under 19 children and is a secretary for the Mumbai Magicians Rugby Association, an initiative started by Vijay Dange, another enterprising youth who is a part of Magic Bus.
With so many medals of achievement, with a proud smile, he says "Today I can stand tall anywhere in any environment and win hearts with my confidence and ability."

Ajay - Life is about football!

Ajay shares an innate passion for football. He eats and breathes football. We are very proud to say that he was appointed as a coach for the Maharashtra State Women Football team in the 15th Senior Women's National Football Championship, Rourkella. He topped at state level and stood fourth nationally in the AFC 'C' Licence Coaching Award Course, AIFF. He very fittingly won the best employee award this year.

Adding to Ajay's credits was he becoming the proud father of a little boy, Armaan.

Arjun and his first research project

Arjun has been a mentor in the Explorers group. The children love him as he never fails to make them smile. Inspired by the Magic Bus programme and realising a few gaps he initiated an exploratory research project on application of Sport as a development tool for children of construction site workers. He did a need assessment in 4 centres of Mobile Crèche, an NGO working with these children. The study helped him design a programme that will tackle issues of lack interest in education, health and hygiene, teasing and using profane language, understanding safety. The programme design was based on his personal experience of delivering a sport for development programme, inputs from the NGO staff and experiences of the children.

Dorothy, star performer

A very dedicated and focussed Dorothy Kotian from our Finance department won the runner-up award for Star Performer of the year. Come what may you will always find Dorothy greeting you with her warm smile.

Dorothy we love to see you smile!

Staff football team at V Division MDFA.

A few staff have started an initiative and formed a team to play at the district level. This initiative was started by the mentors to build up their skill level and be better footballers to deliver the essential skills to the children.
